INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION

A MindSet Training Curriculum Instructor Certification workshop consists of four days. The successful Instructor candidate will have the capability, support, and materials necessary to certify others within their organization in all three sections of the curriculum for a period of one year. The following represents a typical agenda for the training.

Day One

 

8:30 - 9:30

Welcome, Introductions, and Expectations

   

9:30 - 11:45

"Creating a Culture of Prevention", Industry overview, "keys to success", guiding principles, goals, philosophy, barriers to prevention, experiential activities.

   

11:45 - 1:00

Lunch

   

1:00 - 3:30

Crisis Communication, Oppositional / Defiant behaviors, 10 Steps for defeating bias and overcoming resistance, four-step counseling model, role-plays.

   

3:30 - 4:00

Review, Q & A

   

Day Two

 

8:30 - 11:45

Safeguards & Physical Containment, Safe practice guidelines, avoiding contact, physical contact from the front and back.

   

11:45 - 1:00

Lunch

   

1:00 - 3:00

Safeguards & Physical Containment (cont.), Vertical containment, horizontal containment, additional safe practices, object containment, seclusion & time-out.

   

3:00 - 3:30

"Making it Stick", Policy and procedure, documentation, and administrative support.

   

Day Three

 

8:30 - 11:45

"Becoming an Instructor", Instructor Manual familiarization, Q & A, review and discussion, PowerPoint, technique practice, Instructor responsibilities.
